BLOCK ISLAND

These just in from Jeff Erhart and his trip to Block Island. Jeff was able to buff a 3 vehicle accident with one injury. Two cars and one scooter collied with only minor injuiries.

2nd Alarm PBFD 8/26/08

Sorry for the delay a little busy with work.


On 8/28/08 the PBFD department was dispatched to 79 Leafwood Dr for a possible structure fire. Upon arrival of the first engine found smoke from the attic area. The 1st alarm was struck and shortly after they 2nd alarm was struck. Reports say the fire started as a dryer fire and extened to the attic area. Mutual aid from Subase, Old Mystic, City of Groton, Mystic, and Center Groton.

Gales Ferry MVA w/ Injuries 8/13/08




The hit was so hard that the gentlemen sitting in his wheel chair broke the back of the chair during the accident




On 8/13/08 at 09:20 the Gales Ferry department along with Ledyard Fire Company and Ledyard Vol. Emergency Squad were dispatched to a two car MVA with injuries. Upon arrival of Gales Ferry found a SEAT bus vs. a Handicap Van. No passengers were in the bus and there were 4 pt in the van. The driver of the bus later was transported for evaluation. In total there were 5 transported 1 was ALS. The roadway was closed for about 1 1/2 hours.

CITY OF NORWICH MVA 5/25/08

At 0200 on the 25th the City of Norwich along with American ambulance were dispatched to a mva unknown of injuries on Central Ave. Upon arrival of crew found a two car crash one car was parked on the side of the road. The driver of the Jeep was uninjured. The driver side of the car was completely skinned off. The Jeep slide down the road about 100 feet on its side.

PBFD Search & Rescue 3/16/08



A full assignment from the PBFD was dispatched to The Copp Family Park for a lost hiker. The hiker wondered off the Yellow trail and got lost in the woods. The hiker made it back to the trail but was not sure in what direction they should take. The PBFD and the Groton Town Police sent a pickup and suv up the trail to find the hiker. The hiker was found with there dog and assisted out of the woods. This is the second time this month that the PBFD and Groton Town Police have been out there looking for hikers.
