On 1/9/08 the City of Groton fire department was dispatched to a basement fire at Ken's Bait and Tackle shop. Upon arrival of the first due units they found a working basement fire and started the first alarm. Upon arrival of the chief, the second alarm was struck. After the second alarm assignment was on scene for about a hour the third alarm was then struck. The fire was contained to the fire building. All of the fire departments in Groton were there as well as Gales Ferry with a rescue and a engine, New London had the tiller and a engine, Waterford was covering stations in Groton as well as W-94 was at staging and Mohegan Tribal Fast team was on scene. Fire was finally under control about 5 hours later.
